Manic Monday!

Here it is!  My first ever 'Manic Monday'!  I'm excited to see how this turns out, and if you're a new reader, please join in!
The title 'Manic Monday' came when I was sitting down one Monday, trying to figure out what all I had to do that week.  I felt still feel like I was just so overwhelmed I couldn't think straight.  I'm normally a good lists' person, but even that particular  Monday, I couldn't seem to get my mind straight and put pen to paper.  I feel as if Monday's are the busiest days for my M I N D!  Everyone seems to dread Monday's (just check out your Facebook friend status')

Every Monday here on Today On... I will host 'Manic Monday'.  You will be able to link up your blog post for YOUR 'Manic Monday'.  Include only what you want your readers to know, nothing personal - I think you get the idea :) - What's your week's to-do list look like?  Doctor's appointments?  Hair appointments?  School meeting?  Shopping?  You can even include your grocery list and menu plan!  If you have more then one blog post that includes any of these things (and more if you think of them!) feel free to link them up separately.

I placed a button for 'Manic Monday' on the left hand side of my blog.  I'm working on placing the button on this post but am having a difficult time linking it up.  I'm also working on the side, pretty much, this button is a temp!  I'm also hoping I get the Mr.Linky to work right.

My Manic Monday!
This week is going to be VERY hectic.  We leave on Thursday to go to Billie Swamp Safari for 4 days - should be getting home Sunday.  We went last year while I was 6.5 months pregnant.  It was a lot of fun!  You can check out more about what it is here.

Anyways, I have a LOT to get ready.  So much in fact, I've decided to have a separate post about it.  You know before you go on vacation, even if it's a short one, you still seem to have a lot to get done, you just want to be organized.  I LOVE being organized so that when we return home, it's not so overwhelming while we're ALL tired and wanting to go to bed!

  1. -I have to remember to tell my son's teacher he won't be in school Friday, and possibly Thursday.  I'm hoping we can just take him out of school early Thursday.
  2. -I have an appointment with a lady some time this week, I need to figure out WHEN that appointment is.
  3. -Send out invoices to all of our customers - MONDAY! (including printing, enveloping AND stamping!)
  4. -Send out $15 OLAY mail in rebate AND $5 SC Johnson rebate. My FIRST ever rebates and I'm real excited about the OLAY rebate, I purchased 2 OLAY Botanical Fusion body washes @ Dollar General for $2.50 each - regular price  - and used TWO $1/1 ANY OLAY product coupons.  I paid $3 for both and my 3rd item was my free OLAY body wash when you purchase a Venus Embrace razor, paired with a $2 off Venus Embrace, I made a GREAT deal as well as a money maker!  I will end up getting my 2 body washes FREE, PLUS a $12 MONEY MAKER!
  5. Make up a couple batches of baby food.
  6. Clean up the kitchen - dishes seem to have overflown and the table is a mess!

Ways to earn FREE stuff!

I thought it was about time I share with everyone, ways I get free stuff!  Here will be one list of things I do to EARN stuff without paying!  I love programs like these :)

Pampers Gifts to Grow - I update my points as I get them, on the left hand side of my blog!
Huggies Enjoy the Ride - I also update my points on the left hand side!
Disney Movie Rewards - I have yet to add these points, but they will be listed on the left hand side!

Swagbucks - I just signed up for this and am excited to get going!  Right now I have only 11 Swagbucks, but I've just downloaded my Swagbucks Toolbar, so I'm hoping that will change soon!  This is a great reward system, all you do is use the Swagbucks search engine and you get what they call "Swagbucks".  You can then exchange your Swagbucks for 'gifts'.  I see where a lot of people are cashing in on some Amazon gift cards!

Something else you can do while out shopping, check the travel/trial size section!  Sometimes you will find coupons that have NO size limit listed, that means you can possibly score FREE stuff!  I never knew this, and am glad I found out about it!

Sign up for 'freebies by mail'.  I list freebies periodically on this blog, so keep checking back!  There are tons of great freebies out there.  Remember, just because you aren't getting a LOT of one product/item, you're getting something that could be potentially great for travel!  That's what we use a lot of our 'freebies by mail' for.

Sample of Sun Vibes Shower Gel - FREE

Get your FREE sample of Sun Vibes Shower Gel from the Sun Vibes Spa, here!

$1 Yoplait YoPlus Printable Coupon!

There is now a new $1/1 Yoplait YoPlus yogurt coupon!

$2/2 Right Guard deodorants - FREE?

Go here to SmartSource and print off your $2/2 Right Guard deodorants coupon.  You can possibly get TWO FREE travel sized deodorants!

Calculator please?!

Sad, yet true, I do NOT own a working calculator! While out shopping today (I plan on going to Winn Dixie, Walgreens & CVS) I will need to see about purchasing one. I always use the one on the computer @ home, but while out shopping, my cell phone calculator just isn't cutting it anymore!

I'll be posting about my Winn-Dixie trip later this evening. Depends on if I do good or not! HA HA

Another reminder to get ready for 'Manic Monday' ! I'm excited for this, I've been busy getting ready for our 4 day trip to the Everglades this Thursday, I'm hoping a couple of my readers will tag along for 'Manic Monday'!

Pampers Gifts to Grow

Pampers has a great rewards program, Gifts to Grow.  Every time you purchase a Pampers product, there should be a sticker with a code on it.  (I believe they are normally yellow and rectangle) You can then enter that code here, after you sign up!  You can then redeem your points for some great gifts!

I signed up for this program when my oldest was a baby, sadly I don't remember what my sign in name or password was.  I don't even use the same email address anymore, so I don't even remember what the password for that account is!

Here are some codes to get you started! [BIG Thanks to Hip2Save for all of these codes!  I added the last 5 pointer, hope it works for you all]

Rebates

Rebates.

I've personally never followed through with any rebates.  I can remember seeing forms about rebates, even as a pre-teen.  I had wondered what good they were, I just figured you'd spend the money now and get the same amount back, just 6-8 weeks later.  So yes, maybe you DO get the product for free...eventually, but I didn't feel it was worth my time.  That all changed with in a course of ONE week!  I found out about the $15 OLAY rebate and decided to dive in!  I also plan on going with the $5 SC Johnson rebate, which you can submit up to 3 times, totaling in $15!

I never knew how rebates could actually be potential money makers, but they can be and that's the beauty of it all. :)  Every extra penny counts, right?  Well, in our household, it does!!  By using coupons, you can purchase the products needed for the rebates for a good price and end up getting that product for FREE, PLUS any extra money (including the amount of your coupon...hint hint, just an example of MAKING money back).  I hope you join in on the rebate band wagon, as I hope it helps YOU save money too :)

$5 SC Johnson Rebate!

Collin, over at Hip2Save has a great post about the new $5 SC Johnson Rebate!  Please go and check out this post.  I plan on doing this rebate, and I hope to do it ALL three times!!  I bought 2 Glade products @ CVS on Sunday - using the, Spend $12 on any of the Glade products listed and receive $4 ECB deal, so I'm off to a start!

$15 OLAY rebate!

This will be my FIRST rebate and I am excited about this one!  From now until March 12, 2010, when you purchase any 3 Olay Facial Moisturizers, Facial Treatments, Facial Cleansers, Hand & Body Lotions, Body Washes or 6+ Bar Soap Packs, you can get a $15 rebate!  In order to qualify, you must complete the rebate certificate, mail in your original dated sales receipt(s) with items circled, and finally write every item's UPC code onto the rebate form.  One rebate per household.  You can download the rebate form here.

Here's what I hope to do @ Dollar General:

Buy 3 Botanical Fusion Body Wash 8.4 oz $2.50 each (regular price)
Total = $7.50
Use 3 $1/1 coupons from the 1/17 PG
Pay $4.50
Submit for the $15 Olay Rebate found here
Final cost All 3 for FREE + a $10.50 moneymaker!
[Thank you Hip2Save for showing me what rebates are really all about!]

The only difference is, I'll only be purchasing TWO of the body washes.  It works out for me because I only have 2 of the $1/1 coupons  and I used my Buy 1 Venus Razor and get 1 FREE Olay Body Wash coupon @ Walgreens, Sunday!  So, I'll be sending in two receipts but I've got no problem with that!  I'm hoping my FREE Olay body wash will count, if so I'll actually be making MORE then $10.50 (the body wash was $4.79)!

TIDE w/ Febreeze FREE Sample!!

P&G is giving away a free sample of Tide with Febreeze Freshness along with a $1 coupon!  Sign up here to get this freebie!  I just LOVE Tide!

Manic Monday -UPCOMING!

I thought it'd be fun to make an official "blogging theme day" here on Today On...  It's going to be Manic" Monday".  I'm only going to give the quick run down, and hopefully you will all gear up for this next Monday!

I will make a "Manic Monday" button and may include a Mr.Linky -I'm still learning how to work with that.  All you'll have to do is, sum up your weekly To-Do list and link that post up!  You can include your weekly menu plan, shopping list, things to do around the house, doctor's appointments, ANYTHING!  It's completely up to you.  Of course, ONLY include information you wouldn't mind your readers reading!

I will still post other deals/freebies on Monday's, if available.  I hope you all come and join me for the first "Manic Monday" February 22, 2010!

Using Coupons!

My journey with using coupons has become something I'd never imagine....fun.  I never would have thought I'd say such a thing but I suppose it's true what they say, once you start couponing - you NEVER shop the same!  I'm not sure, to be quite honest, as to how long I'll use coupons, whether I'll use them for a few years or for as long as I can only imagine, but I know that for now I WILL be using these marvelous things!  Upon reading many of blogs here on the internet, I found myself fascinated with the idea of going grocery shopping and buying $160 worth of items, for only $10!  I thought it couldn't be possible, but it is!  As I haven't saved a LARGE amount of money (did I mention I am new to couponing) I do have faith, and I will continue to trust in God as He's the holder of our finances.

I hope to show others who may be interested in using coupons OR shopping at CVS & Walgreens the way to save money.  I'm sure you all will have a time or 2 of thinking, "This is all so confusing!"  And, I know!  I've been there too, but now that I've gotten the hang of it, I'm hanging in there! :)

Some of the things that helped me make up my mind on using coupons:

-Coupon clipping means YOU SAVE MONEY!  That's the most important thing to remember while clipping.  Your coupons ARE your money.  Coupons are just as good better as money!
-By clipping coupons, you can start stockpiling!  I am eager to start my stockpile and take pictures! I just LOVE the idea of stockpiling.  Stockpiling is also another good way to save money.  Also, if something as in a natural disaster  comes your way, you will have plenty of food/supplies!
-The last thing is simply the best, you can DONATE!!!  Yes, by using coupons -properly - you have the opportunity to get items for free (and of course for a GREAT deal) and you can donate them!  You can donate food and household items!  I love this, it's a great way to teach the little one's about giving!

This Little Prayer of Mine - Book Review

I have had the oppurtunity to do a book review. It could not have come at a better time. The name of the book, This Little Prayer of Mine was written by Anthony DeStefano and illustrated by Mark Elliot.

Brother Bear will be 4 in May and we have been teaching him more about God and praying - things of that nature. This was the perfect book to do just that.

The illustrations in this book were just beautiful!

I enjoyed every thing about this book, even The Big Show and Brother Bear enjoyed it. I sense this book becoming a bedtime read every night! If you're thinking of introducing prayer into your household, this is just the book to do that. You can go here to get more information on purchasing this book and here to learn more about Anthony DeStefano

28 Day Organizing Challenge

As my readers know, I have decided to take I'm an Organizing Junkie's, 28 Day Organizing Challenge this year. I've decided to tackle a couple of areas in my home, but will only be entering my shelving unit - command center - into the challenge.

I'm sorry for the poor picture quality, I'm not sure what has been going on with my camera, and I don't see a new camera in the horizon anytime soon! This is my shelving unit my dear Kate gave to me. I love it! With The Big Show's grandma moving out in about 2 months, we've I've been doing some major Spring cleaning! So, this challenge has come at a great time! (PS I have to tell you, I had actually already started organizing this piece, but it's changed quite a bit since this was taken!)

# of items bought 12
Amount BEFORE coupons $36.18
Amount SAVED $38.03
They had a deal going on @ CVS:

That's where I got the Skippy PB & Ragu sauces 3/$5 &
2 Lipton teas 2/$5
I had used the price scanner last week and received a $3 off any Glade product so I snagged a Glade air freshener for $3.99 & receive $3 ECB (it's one of the special deals going on until the middle of this month I believe).
I used the following coupons:
-.60 off 2 Ragu sauces
-.60 off 1 Skippy PB
-.75 off 2 Lipton teas
-$3 off any Glade product
I also had $5 ECB from last weeks transaction.
My total out of pocket (OOP) $2.56
ECB received: $6

@Walgreens I did 3 separate transactions.
I first bought a Vitamin Schtick for $1.99 and received a $2 RR.

Then, I shopped around for my 2nd and 3rd transactions.
1 Blink Gel Eye drops -$7.99 (receive $8 RR)
some candy $.34
Coupons used:
-$2 off Blink eye drops
-$2 RR from first transaction Vitamin Schtick
Total OOP $4.33
RR received $8

3rd transaction
Deal of: Buy 2 particapating products from Advil & ThermaCare receive $5 Register Rewards
1 ThermaCare heat wrap - $6.99 (just NOW noticed this wasn't on sale @ my store, in the ad it states $5.99...boo:( )
1 Advil - $4.49
1 V-day tumbler - $.39
Coupons used:
-$1 off ThermaCare
-$1 off Advil
-$8 RR from previous transaction
Total OOP $1.87

Overall I think I did fairly well! I'd like to go back to CVS to get a couple of other things, but am not sure if I will or not.
